Lauren Mayer

'I believe memory attaches itself to objects, especially to objects that exist within and around a personal living space like a bedroom or living room'

'a proxy for things beyond itself'

Lauren Mayer explores the  notions of memory, trace, and metaphor through furniture, specifically those that have to do with modes of storage, saving, or travel. I feel that this aspect of her work will relate to many people such as Laura and Briona as they are working on projects of memory and times gone by. I also feel the fragility of Lauren's reminds me of Saoirse's delicate porcelain flowers and sense of fragility.

"The desires we have to be connected to one another whether it is through relationships, memories,   or today’s ever increasing use of communication devices."

" The desire to be connected through the liminal space that affixes the various pieces together that form our identity"

I think that this piece may relate to Saoirse's sense of fragility throughout her work ,the casting shadow might also relate to Zarah as she shines light through her porcelain pieces.
